Stacie Tate

Stacie Tate holds a doctorate in curriculum, instruction, and leadership from Michigan State University. Her interests are literacy, urban education, multicultural education, urban teacher development, and critical research. Tate has conducted extensive research on literacy instruction and student achievement in secondary schools in Detroit, Los Angeles, and Newark. She currently is examining the influence of critical literacy and pedagogy on urban student achievement, as well as innovative curricular methods for the English/Language Arts classroom. She has presented her work at American

Educational Research Association (AERA), National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE), and other national and international conferences.
Tate received the Competitive Doctoral Enrichment Fellowship at Michigan State University and the Spencer Research Fellowship Training Grant at Michigan State. She was nominated for the Distinguished Teaching Award at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.
